LOCATIONS

Welcome to the vibrant world of Alligator Cafe, a culinary gem nestled at 9540 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX 75218. This restaurant is not just about food; it’s where the heart of Cajun and Creole cuisine beats the strongest in the city. Known for its lively atmosphere and engaging live music on weekends, Alligator Cafe promises an unforgettable dining experience that transports you straight to the bayou.

As I step inside, I am greeted by the warm and inviting ambiance that reflects the essence of New Orleans. The intimate space pulses with the laughter and chatter of diners, and the tantalizing aromas wafting through the air set the stage for a culinary adventure. The menu is a delightful mash-up of traditional Cajun favorites and inventive Creole dishes, making it a paradise for food lovers. From the moment I take my seat, I can feel the anticipation bubbling up as I prepare to indulge in flavors that are rich, robust, and rooted in deep culinary tradition.

Customers rave about the fried alligator and jalapeno hush puppies, praising them as some of the best you can find. Samantha Moya's sentiment rings true for many: the food here has a way of evoking joy and satisfaction with every bite. The moment you sink your teeth into the crispy alligator, you’ll understand the buzz—it’s perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and tender inside. And don’t overlook the shrimp and grits, specially requested with extra bread to savor the creamy goodness. It’s a dish that epitomizes comfort food while offering a touch of elegance.

Couple that with hearty portions of gumbo and crawfish combo, and it’s clear why so many patrons keep coming back. The flavors are vibrant; each spoonful tells a story of Louisiana heritage that beckons foodies far and wide. In the words of Michael Fontenot, this is undeniably the best Cajun food in Dallas, and once you dive into the creole etouffee, you will find it hard to disagree. Loaded with crawdad tails and luscious ingredients, it’s a dish that showcases the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity and flavor.

And if it’s a sweet finale you’re after, the bread pudding and chocolate yum yum will provide a decadent end to your meal that is simply unmissable. The laughter and music continue around you, enhancing the gathering of flavors and sounds that make dining here such a delightful occasion.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Alligator Cafe is a destination that goes beyond just a meal—it's an experience that celebrates love, laughter, and the rich cultural tapestry of Cajun cuisine. As I leave, I carry with me not just a full stomach, but a heart warmed by great food and the passionate spirit inherent in every dish served here.

Never been to New Orleans so I cannot attest to authenticity, but to this well traveled couple Alligator Cafe was outstanding! He got the ribs and I got the coconut shrimp (it's only a special on the rare occasion)- can't tell you which was better because they both blew us away. Red beans and rice also superb. Live music on the weekends, can't wait to go back!

Awesome experience, ambiance and food! Our server was Lindsey and she is super sweet. I'm so glad we found this place again (I used to visit when they were in Deep Ellum). Best fried alligator and jalapeno hush puppies! I had the shrimp n grits (with a special request for bread to sop up the creamy goodness!)- fantastic! Keep up the good work, we'll definitely be back soon

I've been a customer of Alligator Cafe for 8-9 years. I have never..... ever..... had a bad meal at this place. My Louisiana heritage drew me to this restaurant, and my taste buds have kept me there. My wife and I never pass up a chance to go. Plus, we love the new location!

Best Cajun food you can find in the City of Dallas! Great staff that is very attentive and friendly. The food is amazing and you can not go wrong with anything on the menu. I really enjoyed the Gumbo and the Crawfish Combo. Give it a try if you are in the mood for some real, homestyle cajun food.

Best cajun food in the Metroplex! I've lived here for 11 years and this surpasses what natives think of as good food (Pappadeaux's). I ordered the fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits, a hurricane & bread pudding to go. My friend ordered the pasta orleans, a bayou sunset & the chocolate yum yum. There was utter silence upon tasting of dishes as they were delicious. The staff is friendly & attentive without being pushy. It's small but the atmosphere is warm & inviting so you get over being seated so close to other patrons. I was really surpised when the band started tuning up. We left before they really got going, but we will definitely go back for the food and experience. They won this Lousiana girl over!

Wow, wow, wow! One of the rare moments when a place lives up to the hype! Since you're reading this, you can also see all the other rave reviews. They are well deserved! Our server was one of the best i've had in a long time, our food... simply amazing, and the drinks were very refreshing. I could go on and on about my experience, but instead i'll just relate one of the many things I enjoyed. The creole etouffee. Most etouffees are so soupy, with barely any meat. THIS HOWEVER was loaded with crawdad tails and other such ingredients. In short, go there! You won't be disappointed.

I have eaten here almost every time I was in Dallas, and quite frequently when I lived close by. I have visited the new place, and it was amazing. Bigger, eloquent, and the same friendly staff. The place is by far the greatest Cajun Italian dining in the city... state... Prices have went up a bit, but still well worth the food you get. 12/22/16 - The family and I dined here over the holidays, and it is still as good as the first day I walked in the door at the previous location. I look at all the low reviews.. one says this one is worse than other locations (it only has one location)... one talks about not liking what she ordered (just because you don't like it doesn't mean you get to change your mind and not be charged for it)... I also applaud the friendly staff and their approach when dealing with rude ignorant customers... by not bending over and taking it up the rear when the customer is clearly wrong.

Delicious Cajun- Creole food. The restaurant is small, but it gives the place a nice cozy and authentic feel.
